We Are Awarded The First Prize In Two Categories In The 11th International ANAC 2020 Tournament

The 11th annual competition since 2010, ANAC 2020 (Automated Negotiating Agents Competition) was held online this year in conjunction with IJCAI 2020 (International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence). Our students of the School of Engineering, advised by Assistant Professor Reyhan Aydoğan, were awarded the first prize in two of the 5 different categories which evaluated and awarded practical negotiation strategies in multi-issue domains.

Ahmet Burak Yıldırım, a junior student in the Computer Engineering Department and Nezih Sunman, a senior student in the Mechanical Engineering Department of the School of Engineering obtained the highest score and won the first prize in the “Automated Negotiation” category with their software agent design that can negotiate automatically -which they named AhBuNe Agent.

Mehmet Onur Keskin, a master’s student in the Artificial Intelligence Program of the Institute of Science and Technology, and Umut Çakan, a master’s student in the Computer Engineering Program of the same institute, designed a marketing software that can automatically negotiate with human negotiators, and they were awarded the first prize with their team named Companion, in the “Humaine” category conducted in cooperation with IBM research.

The news of us winning the first prize in both categories was also posted on the website of BBC. BBC described the achievements as "The greatest winners of the year". Congratulations to our students for their achievements, we wish them further success in their career paths.
