The Third Prize from TEKNOFEST Heterogeneous Swarm Simulation Competition

Organized for the fourth time this year, TEKNOFEST, the Aviation and Technology Festival, completed the final competitions at Istanbul Atatürk Airport on September 21 - 26. 35 different competitions were held at TEKNOFEST, and our team participated in the Heterogeneous Swarm Simulation Competition, which started on March 13, 2020.

The aim of the Heterogeneous Swarm Simulation is to develop swarm intelligence algorithms for pandemic scenarios simulated in an urban environment. Using unmanned air vehicles and unmanned ground vehicles, teams are responsible to deliver health services to the patients in a city as fast as possible. Our team has developed a decentralized swarm intelligence software addressing communication, mapping, routing, collision avoidance, and motion controlling problems.

41 teams participated in the competition held for the first time in 2021 and 32 teams were qualified for the second stage. Our team consisted of five members which are Furkan Cantürk (MSc. student in Artificial Intelligence), Emre Kenar (Computer Science undergraduate), Cihan Eran (MSc. student in Computer Science), Ayşenur Külünk (MSc. student in Artificial Intelligence), and Dr. Reyhan Aydoğan as the team supervisor. They attended the finals lasting 5 days and achieved the third prize among 10 finalist teams.
